MASTER OF SCIENCE in Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis

The Master of Science program in Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) at Saint Joseph College (SJC) will develop professionals skilled in the application of Applied Behavior Analysis principles and practices to the education and treatment of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) across the lifespan.

Applied Behavior Analysis is the application of the science of behavior to the solution of problems of social significance. It is an empirically grounded and philosophically unique approach to behavior change that has reliably produced effective programs in a vast array of applied arenas. Given that this method of science-based decision making is what distinguishes Behavior Analysis from other fields, not the particular areas to which it can be applied, a behaviorally trained professional could find employment in many different settings including: educational assessment, planning, and program evaluation; staff and parent training; prevention and community intervention; therapy/counseling; developmental disabilities and Autism; organizational behavior management and human service administration; sport and health psychology, and many more.

The Master of Science in Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis program is designed to develop mastery in the science and application of Behavior Analysis by improving the skills of experienced human service professionals from such disciplines as Education, Special Education, Psychology, and others seeking proficiency in understanding the characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorders and related interventions along with applied pedagogical concepts, principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis for application to school or other professional settings.
