Nutrition and Dietetics
Job opportunities for nutritionists and dietitians are expected to increase during the next 10 years. Job growth will result from an increasing emphasis on disease prevention through improved dietary habits.
A growing and aging population will boost demand for nutritional counseling and treatment in hospitals, residential care facilities, schools, prisons, community health programs, and home health care agencies. Public interest in nutrition, increased emphasis on health education, and prudent lifestyles also will spur demand, especially in food service management. Finally, with increased public awareness of obesity and diabetes, there is a great need for dietitians and nutritionists specializing in those diseases.
Saint Joseph College offers you a comprehensive program incorporating core liberal arts requirements and basic science requirements for the first two years. Your junior and senior years are professionally oriented to focus on Nutrition courses and include hands-on clinical experience. The Dietetic Internship Program is fully accredited by the American Dietetic Association.
Internships in Nutrition & Dietetics
Our Dietetic Internship Program will give you practical, hands-on experience. SJC has professional affiliations with nearly every hospital in Connecticut, as well as with numerous public and private health and education facilities that employ registered dietitians.
