The Romance
Megan, like many college students, found the task of picking and sticking to one major somewhat difficult. She changed her major from Psychology to English last year and from English to a Self-designed major last semester. “I like the self-designed major because its good mix of my interests,” she said.
Megan believes that she has changed since her freshmen year: “I’m more confident and social; can you believe I used to be quiet?” Megan is known to her friends and professors as a storyteller because she tells the best, most outrageously funny stories. She attributes this new-found confidence and sociability to the people and atmosphere of Saint Joe’s. “I’m encouraged by professors and friends who believe in me.”
Her performance in the Queenes Companye’s Machinal was Megan’s favorite SJC experience so far. “I liked meeting new people, feeling involved, and, of course, working with Mark,” she said. Professor Mark Zelinsky heads SJC’s theater minor and is the director of The Queenes Companye. Megan said that her favorite SJC class so far was Professor Zelinsky’s Fundamentals of Acting class: “I feel more free when I’m pretending to be someone else.”
