Elizabeth Trojanowski ’12, better known as Liz, knew intuitively that SJC was the place to be. “The tour is what made me decide. It just felt right; I could see myself being nurtured academically and spiritually at St. Joe’s,” is the reason Liz gives for choosing Saint Joseph College. When asked what she likes most about SJC now that she is a second year student here, she claims that the over all community provides ample opportunities to gain knowledge. Even living on campus has helped her learn more about herself and how to attend to her needs in an independent manner.

As a Social Work major, Liz particularly enjoys her Social Work classes. She also appreciates the liberal arts tradition of a well-rounded education and has enjoyed the psych, foreign policy, and French classes she took for general education requirements. One of her favorite professors is Dr. Ken Long.  “We’re buds,” she chuckles. Yet, this a feeling often expressed by students toward their professors at SJC. “He is intelligent, funny, and as cliché as it sounds, I really do always learn something new when I talk to him,” Liz said.

Her favorite class so far this semester is Social Welfare and Policy. “The class is invigorating,” Liz said. She likes talking about social issues and injustices inspire her go out and make a change in the real world: “It makes me feel like I will be a well-educated and passionate social worker.”
