Dr. Ellen Anderson is motivated by the belief that all students are capable of not only understanding, but enjoying, Chemistry. Her own fascination with how things work on the molecular level infuses her teaching with the passion of potential discovery. “I want students to understand the connections within the discipline as well as the connections to everyday life,” she said. “Chemistry, in their eyes, then becomes a useful science.” She also expects her student to work hard and put forth substantial effort.
Dr. Anderson knows full well the impact a great teacher can have on a student’s life. Her own love of Chemistry was influenced by her high school Chemistry teacher and an Organic Chemistry professor in college. “I strive to be that sort of teacher,” she said, “and I do so by sharing my love of science and my appreciation of Saint Joseph College with all my students.”
