Assistant Professor Geraldine Dees' clinical experience in teaching hospitals made her realize how important it is to simulate real Nursing situations. "It's crucial for nursing students to find out for themselves how they react under fire," Professor Dees says, "so I try to simulate the lab as if it's really happening." Professor Dees stresses that a calm, organized methodology is the best approach for students, and that it all starts with being prepared.

Assistant Professor Dees' courses consist of didactic sessions, problem based learning, laboratory practice and clinical experience. She comments, "I try to give students the tools they need to be successful. I also tell my students that there are many exciting areas of nursing to pursue. It is important to become a lifelong learner."

The single most important aspect of teaching, Assistant Professor Dees contends, is to "be there for the students." She continues, "That is why Saint Joseph College is the perfect place for me. I am drawn to the College's focus on education.  It's the perfect match because I came here to teach."
