While growing up in Lithuania, Dr. Dalia Giedrimiene remembers that teachers were her role models. She says, "I was fortunate to have good teachers when I was young and I strive to return that favor now at Saint Joseph College." To that end, Dr. Giedrimiene makes students her priority. "I make sure they get involved in all the classroom discussions. As long as they do that and keep up-to date in their subject matter, they will do well. Teaching on-line added a new favor to my teaching experiences. I like to incorporate technology into the classroom, and feel very satisfied when my students succeed in their professional life." Being in an academic position for more than 15 years she knows how rewarding this position is, especially when students show an appreciation of your teaching and are able to use it later on in clinical settings.
Dr. Giedrimiene is an expert in the field of Cardiology. Her work in Lithuania and the United States is extensive. She has experience as an Intensive Cardiac Care Physician and as a developer of an Arrhythmias Center for patients with cardiac arrhythmias and conduction abnormalities. She holds three medical patents, including one in the area of Diagnostic Methods for Interpretation of Disturbances in Cardiac Rhythm and Conduction, and she has participated in medical conferences around the world and published an impressive array of groundbreaking medical articles in leading journals.
Teaching at Saint Joseph College, Dr. Giedrimiene says, is an important part of her career. "I have a great deal of admiration for my colleagues. The College is blessed with great faculty. They work hard and I hold them in high regard. I like interdisciplinary collaboration between faculty, and an example of this is our work as a Women's Health Initiative Group on the project "Smoking Behavior and Health Attitudes among SJC students".
