Inspired to care for underserved patients, Dr. Annette Hood works as an ambulatory care pharmacist, where she educates patients on medications and dietary considerations. She sees the correlation between her own direct patient care and her work as a pharmacy educator. As Dr. Hood says, “My professional experience shapes my teaching. It helps me teach the importance of communication skills, and provides students the opportunities for direct patient care where they can apply the clinical knowledge they gain in the classroom.”

Her teaching philosophy focuses on the three core concepts, guiding students in being proactive, independent, and active in direct patient care. Both in the classroom and out, Dr. Hood looks to serve as a mentor, offering “information and guidance on various pharmacy career paths.”
