Professor Steven Jarett provides Saint Joseph College students from all fields with practical and applicable business and accounting information that will help throughout their careers. Professor Jarett states, "When you show students how business relates to what they know, it's helpful. Plus I make them go outside the book. We discuss current articles in The Wall Street Journal and all the real-world situations inherent in them, from CEO graft to different ways to market products."
Professor Jarett has 30 years of teaching under his belt, and he has been at Saint Joseph College since 1984. He stresses the need for giving back to the community, a quality that is inherent in the College's mission. For example, he is on the Board of Directors for Community Accounting Aid and Services, a volunteer organization that provides a wealth of services for the economically disadvantaged. He served as President of Accountants for the Public Interest for six years, where he co-authored and edited several publications that provided valuable information and guidelines to non-profit organizations. In addition, he was elected into The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs Northeast Region's Hall of Fame, only the second person to be selected for this honor.
What makes Professor Jarett proudest, however, is how enthusiastically welcomed Saint Joseph College accounting graduates are in the workplace. "Employers give us feedback. They are very happy with the well-rounded education our graduates receive."
