The study of Nutrition is becoming increasingly important to the general public, and that makes perfect sense to Dr. Margery Lawrence. She explains, "Nutrition incorporates both the hard and soft sciences. Everyone is interested in Nutrition to some degree. It's a central discipline."
Dr. Lawrence believes her students need to be participants in their own education in order to get the most out of their studies. Moreover, because Nutrition is a rapidly changing field, they must stay up-to-date by joining professional organizations, subscribing to journals, learning how to evaluate research, and perfecting networking techniques. "What helps at Saint Joseph College is that faculty members work hard to nurture the students. They put incredible hours into forging personal relationships with them."
As an Associate Professor and Chair of the department, Dr. Lawrence invites any questions students may have about studying Nutrition. Among the courses Dr. Lawrence teaches are Fundamentals of Nutrition, Food Science, Advanced Nutrition, and Life Cycle Nutrition.
