Dr. Michelle Stronz brings to the classroom a balance between her own broad experience in industry and her knowledge and research regarding leadership, strategy, and action. Having led various types of organizations — including industrial, philanthropic, and entrepreneurial — Dr. Stronz understands how leadership drives organizational focus and success.
Her current research focuses on three highly-effective social enterprises and their leadership structure. “My goal is to understand why these organizations have operated successfully, to identify the best practices from their experience, and to provide a guide in order to duplicate those experiences in communities across the globe,” she said.
Dr. Stronz believes in a learner-centered environment — one that connects interactive learning with real-world experience. “I challenge students to question their assumptions,” she said. “I want them to explore current issues and situations that explain the concepts presented in class, and then to act upon what they learn in a way that benefits their community.” As a result, her students become more self aware, authentic and effective leaders.
