WHEN IS ORIENTATION?

Saint Joseph College New Student Orientation happens in two parts - Summer Orientation and Welcome Weekend. Summer Orientation happens in four one-day sessions that will take place on:

Tuesday, June 7th
Friday, June 10th
Tuesday, June 21st
Friday, June 24th

Each new student will be able to choose their orientation day to attend on a first-come, first-serve basis. The second part of Orientation is called Welcome Weekend which takes place from August 28th - 30th before Fall classes begin.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR ORIENTATION?

Orientation Registration materials are mailed out to all deposited students on a rolling basis based on your deposit date. These materials will describe the Orientation online Registration form that must be completed to register for New Student Orientation.

IS THERE A COST FOR ORIENTATION?

Yes, there is a $30.00 orientation fee for each student that covers their guests as well.  Once you have completed the online orientation RSVP form please send a check or money order in the amount of $30.00 payable to Saint Joseph College to:

WILL I REGISTER FOR CLASSES DURING THE SUMMER ORIENTATION?

Yes, therefore it is mandatory for you to attend your orientation date. For questions about course registration, please contact the Academic Advisement Office at 860.231.5219.

IS ORIENTATION MANDATORY?

Yes, Orientation is mandatory. During the one-day summer sessions each new student will register for their fall courses and during Welcome Weekend, all new residential students will move into their residence hall rooms for the year. There are special commuter student sessions as well for our commuter population. Throughout the summer and fall Orientation programs you will be provided with information about services which address the issues and concerns facing college students. In addition, programs are presented to support academic success, as well as personal and social development. Most importantly, you will also be introduced to the faculty and staff who will be assisting you in your transition.

WHAT KINDS OF PROGRAMS ARE INCLUDED IN ORIENTATION?

The programs provided during Orientation cover a broad spectrum. We offer programs for both students and their families. Presentations will be offered on College history and mission, how to be academically successful, what to expect from your First Year Seminar course, introduction to the common reading, and getting involved on campus.

WILL I BE PROVIDED AN E-MAIL ACCOUNT?

Yes, each new student is provided with an SJC e-mail account. It is important that you register and use that account. Valuable information is sent to this account about college events, activities, important announcements, and programs. In addition, most professors require that you have an SJC e-mail account. More information about registering for your e-mail account is provided on the Information Technology section of our website.

WHERE DO I REGISTER MY CAR? HOW MUCH IS REGISTRATION?

Car registration is handled through Campus Safety, located first floor, McGovern hall. Campus registration stickers are valid from August to August and cost $35.00. In order to register your vehicle you need to have your car registration and a current course schedule.

WHEN CAN I START PURCHASING MY BOOKS FOR CLASSES?

Books will be available at the SJC Bookstore for Fall courses at the beginning of August.

IS THERE AN ATM ON-CAMPUS?

Yes, there is a Sovereign Bank ATM in the McGovern Student Union.
