Saint Joseph College students

First Year Students

As a first-year student at Saint Joseph College, you will be given the tools you will need to succeed throughout your entire college career. You will be taught by faculty who strive to inspire you to fulfill your potential. Classes are always taught by Saint Joseph College faculty, never a teaching assistant. We average 16 students per class and our student/faculty ratio is 11:1.

You will enroll in the first-year seminar, a three-credit course specifically designed to help you in your transition to college-level learning and living. The seminar teaches essential critical thinking, reading, and writing skills through a variety of courses such as "War Through Women's Eyes," "Meditation and Martial Arts," and "Hollywood Rebels and Justice Seekers."

It doesn't all happen in the classroom. You will practice what you have learned through firsthand experience both locally and globally. Saint Joseph College encourages its students to participate in internships, clinical placements, and community service initiatives. Special learning opportunities abound, such as The Honors program, Service Learning experiences, and Study Abroad.

A degree from Saint Joseph College will give you everything you need in order to focus on success: skills, confidence, mentorship, and professional preparation.
