St. John’s tutors Christine Chen, violin, and David Bolotin, piano, offer a free lunchtime concert featuring Handel and Corelli Sonatas for Violin and Continuo. Chen and Bolotin often collaborate on musical performances.
David Bolotin received a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in 1966 and a doctorate degree from New York University in 1974. He was a Lecturer in Classics at Yale University before becoming a tutor at St. John's College in Annapolis in 1974. He joined the college’s Santa Fe faculty in 1982. Bolotin also was a visiting associate professor in the Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago at various times in the late 1980s and early 2000s and Carl Friedrich von Siemens Fellow at the Siemens Institute, in Munich, Germany, in 2006-2007.
Christine Chen earned a bachelor of arts degree in Russian Studies from Wellesley College and a master’s of arts degree in Regional Studies (Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia) in 2001 from Harvard University. Before joining the St. John’s faculty in Santa Fe in 2006, Chen held various positions, including program coordinator, Institute for Democracy in Eastern Europe, and departmental lecturer, Cambridge University.
