A new book, Dignity and Defiance: Stories from Bolivia's Challenge to Globalization, published by the University of California Press, offers a close-up look at Bolivia's historic transformation in light of international globalization. Weaving together stories of regular people striving to make their lives better along with vivid accounts of the political struggles that have made Bolivia international front-page news, this exhaustive study offers a window into this changing part of South America.
Please join editors and authors, Jim Schultz and Melissa Draper - who have lived and worked in Bolivia, collectively, for more than 15 years - as they share the powerful story of Bolivia, a country caught in the web of international globalization.
Schultz is the executive director of the Democracy Center and a graduate of the University of California - Berkely and Harvard University. Draper, a native of Santa Fe, is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Johns Hopkins University.
