St. John’s College Art and Book Auction AND Artists Market

Join the Friends of St. John’s College at the annual Art and Book Auction Reception. Live and silent auctions will feature outstanding artwork by Spanish Colonial artists in addition to collectible books. The pieces will be available for preview on-line at in late January, and will be on display in the Meem Library lobby beginning February 6, 2008 for your bids. Auctions will be followed by the opening of the Spanish Artists Market in the Great Hall.

The annual market presents art forms unique to New Mexico that are appreciated and valued the world over. The show will include bultos, jewelry, retablos, metal work, woodcarving, ceramics, straw appliqué, and weaving. Artists include: Fernando Bimonte, Charles M. Carrillo, Arlene Cisneros Sena, Martha Varoz Ewing, Juanito (John) Jimenez, Fred Ray López, Gloria López Córdova, Lenise Lujan Martinez, Mary Jo and Jimmy Madrid, Margarito Mondragón, Diana Moya Lujan, Peter Ortega, Nicolas Otero, Rita Padilla-Haufmann, Leonard Salazar, Tomas Salazar y Weiler, Donna Sena Keirns, Ralph Sena, Mónica Sosaya Halford, and Camillo Trujillo.
