Office of Communications

Our team is involved in all of the college’s external communications work. With staff in both Annapolis and Santa Fe, we collaborate college-wide on strategy and creative work for admissions marketing and development/alumni communications. We oversee the St. John’s website and social channels, and manage public affairs and media relations.

Our office also contributes to major internal communications initiatives and offers consultation on events promotion and other forms of PR. These days, everything has a communications dimension, and our work is wide-ranging.

What We Do

  • Promote basic brand standards and consistency in the college’s identity;
  • Set web strategy, manage sjc.edu, and support effective use of other college web assets;
  • Work with the media to promote positive attention to St. John’s and the Program;
  • Coordinate and maintain college social media efforts;
  • Oversee print and digital design work, along with photography and video shoots; and
  • Create and produce news and feature stories to appear online and in college publications.

For assistance or inquiries, contact a Communications staff member directly. We look forward to helping you!

WEBSITE CHANGES

To request a change on the college website, please use the online website feedback form.

Mass email submission process

If your department has an email communication that you believe is substantial enough to warrant wide distribution to those in the extended St. John’s community, please fill out the mass email request form, which will step you through the submission process. The Communications and Advancement Services offices will review and get back to you.

Photo/Video/Audio Request Process

If you are a St. John’s College employee and you have any upcoming photography, videography, and/or audio recording needs, please complete this form. All requests will go to Hannah Loomis, Digital Content Creator & Manager, who will respond as soon as possible. Any questions may be directed to Hannah at hannah.loomis(at)sjc.edu.

Campus Photography and Videography Policy

The public is welcome to take some personal photos or short videos while visiting campus, so long as it does not interfere with the operations of the college or impede the members of our community. Unmanned aerial systems, referred to commonly as drones, are not permitted to fly or operate on any areas of St. John’s College property. Exceptions may be granted for special projects upon approval by the Director of Public Safety and Office of Communications. Professional photo and video shoots must be scheduled with the Campus Reservations Manager of each campus (Email Annapolis / Email Santa Fe), are subject to location availability, and may require approval of the Communications Office. Shooting fees will be negotiated on an individual basis.
