Overview
In response to an increased demand for nursing professionals with advanced degrees, Saint Joseph College proudly announces its new Dual Degree Nursing Program. This part-time program allows registered nurses to simultaneously earn a bachelor's and master's degree. Through accelerated courses, students complete both degrees in fewer credit hours. The flexible format and overlapping undergraduate graduate course content allow students to balance professional and academic pursuits.

Step 1: Bachelor of Science Degree
Students first complete the general education requirements of the College's B.S. program. A GPA of least 2.8 must be achieved during the Baccalaureate Program. (A GPA of 3.0 is required for progression into the Masters Program.) The general education requirements of the undergraduate portion include:

*BIOL 508: Advanced Physiology is a Biology Department prerequisite.

All General Education courses, NURS 103, application for 27 credits (RN validation credits) must be completed prior to beginning core nursing courses.

Core Nursing Courses for the RN-MS Track:

In total, combined liberal arts and general electives must equal 120 credits.

Policy Statement:
Students have to complete all General Education requirements, (including writing portfolio and core theme courses), NURS103 plus application for 27 credits of RN validation, BIOL 508, BIOL 509, prior to beginning Core Nursing Courses for graduate sequence.

Step 2: Master of Science Degree
Students who have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA in the undergraduate program are eligible to apply to the graduate program. Upon matriculation, a GPA of 3.0 is required throughout the graduate curriculum.

Additional Requirements and Information
Students interested in the Saint Joseph College Dual Degree Nursing Program must have a current Connecticut Registered Nurse License and must meet all requirements for matriculation into the College graduate program. Validation for prior nursing knowledge occurs with satisfactory completion of NURS 103. Clinical practica are arranged individually with course professors.
