The Prime Time Program
Bachelor of Arts, Psychology

Build a foundation for professional work in health care, social services, education, government, business and industry, or wherever there is a need to explore, assess, or modify human behavior.

Exciting Curriculum, Flexible Schedule:

The Psychology program at Saint Joseph College offers you: individual mentoring; interships to apply your knowledge and to begin your professional experience; excellent preparation for graduate work. Courses meet days, weekends, evenings, and online to meet your needs. All students with strong GPAs can take graduate courses for undergraduate credit during their junior or senior years.

Major Courses

  • Introduction to Psychology (3 credits)
  • Critical Research and Writing in the Social Sciences (3 credits)
  • Developmental Psychology (3 credits)
  • Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences (3 credits)
  • Research Methods (4 credits)
  • Psychopathology or Brain and Behavior (3 credits)
  • History and Systems (3 credits)
  • Psychology Coordinating Seminar (3 credits)
  • Popular electives include: Forensic Psychology, Human Sexuality, Moral Development, Child psychopatology and Resiliency, Children with Serious Illnesses, Psychology of Fear, Sleep and Dreams (9 credits)
  • Art Therapy electives are available

Accelerated options include:

Transfer credits, credit-for-life experience, credit by standardized exams, intensive courses in winter, spring, and summer. Outstanding seniors are invited into our accelerated B.A. to M.A. program and take graduate courses in Counseling.

Internships

Apply your education through work at local psychiatric facilities, schools, hospitals, corporations, research centers, housing institutions and community organizations. Recent field study opportunities have included:

  • Assisting behavior analysts at a school for autistic youth
  • Planning programs with school psychologists at elementary and middle schools
  • Mentoring and supporting teen mothers
  • Assisting at a children's law center
  • Working with teachers and counselors at schools for troubled youth
