| Department of Education - REACH to Teach REACH to Teach is a graduate program at Saint Joseph College that combines secondary licensure with a Master's Degree in one streamlined, cohort program. In just five semesters, from spring to spring, REACH candidates complete their certification requirements and earn a professional license to teach in Connecticut's public schools. With just one additional semester, students can complete a Master of Arts Degree in Education. In addition, the REACH program provides students with a scholarship, waiving graduate tuition for the nine credits of student teaching. With significant shortages already present in the secondary schools, it is an opportune time to join a most rewarding profession. Join the ranks of exceptional secondary certification candidates who are consistently recognized among Connecticut's top teachers and instructional leaders. Students are eligible to apply if they hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution, earned a minimum of 3.0 GPA, and have passing scores on the PRAXIS I test or hold a PRAXIS waiver letter.
REACH provides the ideal: the foundation to teach for high-quality learning in the regular content area classroom and the skills to reach all types of learners. Designed for individuals who are rigorous of mind and compassionate of heart, REACH prepares prospective high school teachers for today's inclusive secondary classroom with students of diverse needs and cultures. The program rewards these highly motivated aspiring teachers with a scholarship award for student teaching hours.
