Graduate Program in Biology
The 30-credit Master of Science degree in Biology includes contemporary courses from Ecology to Biotechnology and presents unique opportunities for independent study and research. Whether your interest lies in the field of research or education, our program combines flexibility, comprehensive course work and an opportunity to prepare you for meaningful professional development. Courses offered on campus are held in the evening to accommodate professional schedules. A full online master's degree option is also available, or the campus and online formats may be combined in a hybrid program. Students self-design their curriculum from an extensive list of electives to create a flexible, substantial and relevant course of study. Saint Joseph College has rolling admissions and offers courses throughout the year so that you can start when it is convenient for you. Students may also take up to six credits prior to official acceptance in the program by completing an application and presenting an undergraduate or graduate degree transcript. Students in the thesis option will present and defend their thesis as a culminating activity in lieu of a written comprehensive exam. Requirements for this option include Graduate Level Statistics and BIOL598 Master's Thesis. Students in the non-thesis option select twenty-four Biology electives and six graduate credits of related coursework from any academic department that is pre-approved by the department chairperson. They must also pass a comprehensive examination upon completion of the 24 elective credits in Biology. Download our brochure. (PDF: 2pp., 202K)
