To contribute to the success and goals of the College itself and to those within its walls by providing courteous service, constant awareness, and consistent communication in order to maintain a safe environment where all who work, learn, and play may prosper, achieve, and grow. "Working Together to Keep Our Campus Safe" Ext. 222/5222 [231-5222] Extension 222/5222 should be used if immediate assistance is needed. Officers do not have office hours and are most commonly on foot or using the Campus Safety vehicle around the campus.
- A crime or suspicious incident is or has occurred.
- A medical emergency has occurred or an ambulance has been called.
- Access is needed to a locked or closed area on campus. (restrictions may apply)
- Vehicle accident occurred on campus.
- A service we provide is needed.
- Anytime you feel uncomfortable with something you are observing, dealing with, or told about by someone else.
Remember that in some situations there are limitations as to the assistance we can provide. However, we will always make an effort to provide you with the information or resources you may need. - Ext. 222/5222 can be dialed from any campus phone or by dialing 232-4571 and then 222 or 5222 from an outside line or directly by calling 231-5222.
- An Officer will answer the line "Campus Safety, May I help you."
- State YOUR NAME, YOUR LOCATION, and the NATURE OF YOUR CALL.
- Remember, TWO PEOPLE CANNOT TALK AT THE SAME TIME. Ext. 222/5222 is a two-way radio-phone and does not transmit the same as a regular phone. SPEAK CLEARLY AND CONCISELY and DO NOT TALK when the officer is talking. The officer will NOT be able to hear you. The clicking noise you may hear is the keying of the mike on the radio, NOT the sound of terminating a call.
- If the radio cuts you off or hangs up on you...CALL BACK. The radio will allow short conversations only and may begin to cut off.
- If your transmission is going to be lengthy, ask the officer to call you back and give your extension or number where you can be reached. Also know that an officer may request to call you, so if asked, give the officer a number at your nearest location.
- If you call and do not get an answer...TRY CALLING AGAIN.
