The Duquesne University Tamburitzans at SJC on Saturday, Feb. 20

Returning for their annual visit with a brand new and spectacular show, the Duquesne University Tamburitzans will appear in their only Connecticut performance at The Bruyette Athenaeum’s Hoffman Auditorium on Saturday, February 20 at 3:00 p.m. Advance tickets: $27 (adults), $22 (senior citizens), $12 (children); ticket prices at the door on the day of event: $30 (adults), $27 (senior citizens), $15 (children). Capturing the joys of life and the diverse ethnicities which they artistically represent, the Duquesne University Tamburitzans are an outstanding ensemble of college students from across the United States as well as Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovakia who have achieved international acclaim in North and South America as well as Europe. For more than 70 years, the Tamburitzans have shared the mosaic of cultural influences and captured the indomitable spirit of Eastern Europe and neighboring countries including Romania, Serbia, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Russia, and the Ukraine. Presenting the traditional music, songs and dances of many nationalities, this energetic group of young men and women offer a non-stop express of high-kicking, fast stepping, action-packed entertainment portraying the human experience with passion and believability. Over 500 colorful, elaborate costumes are worn by the performers featuring rich textiles, magnificent embroideries, and intricate lacework which is meticulously researched for authenticity and created for the stage.
