The Gengras Art activities include:

Clay (coil, pinch and slab): kiln fired and air dried

Collage (multi-media)

Painting (finger painting, tempera, and acrylic)

Drawing (markers, crayons, craypas and colored pencils using stencils, visual aids, an also including self portraits with mirrors)

Printmaking (Styrofoam, stamps, linoleum block and monoprint)

Sensory Art (including materials such as, rice, beans, glitter, foam shapes, colored macaroni, clear and shiny objects, feathers, sand paper, that help stimulate a sensory response, as well as earthen and specialty clays, scented markers, finger painting, sponge printing + papier mache.)

Sculpture (papier mache or clay)

Art history (coloring pages of famous paintings. Reproductions are found in the art room)

Stained Glass (Unit II)

The art activities are presented in an uncomplicated step-by-step format, using pictures, written directions,
verbal aids and physical demonstrations. The activities are meant to engage the students' interest,
independence and self-expression, with specific adaptations made whenever necessary.
Art at The Gengras Center acknowledges every student's need for self-esteem.
Projects are designed to be confidence building and are individually designed to reach the needs of the students
in each class. Clean-up is also a part of the art experience.

Student art work is displayed throughout the school and in The Gengras Calendar in December.
A portfolio of each student's work is produced at the end of the school year and sent home.
