The Gengras Center Boundless Playground

The new Nature ClassroomJust over three years since the grand opening of The Gengras Center 's Boundless Playground, students using the play area have a major new feature to enjoy. With the help of a grant from Lincoln Financial, an outdoor, tree-house inspired, classroom is open and ready for business. The Gengras Center 's new Nature Classroom, located inside the Boundless Playscape, provides an authentic workspace for students to study and interact with the lively world around them. Designed by Tom Bush to suit the needs of our special population, the classroom will accommodate students of all ages and abilities. Its unique design features a swinging half door, retractable roofing, multiple windows for viewing the wildlife abundant throughout campus, a tree trunk lectern and bench seating for students and staff. One look at the exterior of the classroom immediately calls to mind the forts in which the Little Rascals planned their most ambitious capers. The vibrant learning space will undoubtedly foster new educational opportunities for students, while at the same time encourage educators to develop novel approaches to lesson designs and plans. As the space evolves, so too will the student's enjoyment of nature and their understanding of their place in and responsibilities to the environment.
