Employment Opportunities
at The Gengras Center
Over the weekend of March 1st and 2nd, Special Olympians from The Gengras Center successfully competed in the Connecticut Winter Games. All five athletes who braved the elements during the Snowshoeing Competition, held at Connecticut Light and Power, brought home medals. At the Floor Hockey venue, located at Pratt and Whitney, the sixteen member Gengras Center team played their way to the silver medal. During the round robin tournament, the team sported new helmets which they obtained using money awarded to Gengras Center Special Olympics by the Susan St. James Foundation.
For over 20 years, the Gengras Center has participated in Connecticut’s Special Olympics. During both Summer and Winter Games, Gengras students have shown their athletic ability in a variety of sporting events such as softball throw, sprints, floor hockey and snowshoeing. The games not only give our students a chance to compete with other Olympians from across the state, it also gives them the opportunity to interact and socialize with a wide-range of fellow athletes, families and volunteers.
The Gengras Center supports the goals and mission of Special Olympics: to provide the most inclusive and meaningful school and community based sports training and competition for all of its 4,818 athletes.
The Gengras Center program is staffed entirely by staff and family volunteers.
