Employment Opportunities
at The Gengras Center

Vocational Services Department

Continuum of Services

The Gengras Center provides vocational opportunities and transition planning for all students beginning at the age of 15. Our continuum gives students the opportunity to grow as young adults into independent workers at a pace that works for all students.

WORK SIMULATION PROGRAM

An introduction to work for younger students who are fifteen years of age, as well as a program for older students who for medical, behavioral, and/or physical reasons need to be close to The Gengras Center.

WORK ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM

Students who are sixteen years old and over are placed at various work sites on the campus of Saint Joseph College or The Gengras Center .

COMMUNITY TRAINING PROGRAM

A supervised community based work program for older students who have completed a Work Adjustment program either in The Gengras Center or on the grounds of Saint Joseph College .

SITUATIONAL ASSESSMENT /
TRANSITIONAL EMPLOYMENT

A semi-independent program for students to further assess their interests and abilities through actual work experience.
Students may be referred to appropriate community programs which provide supported work programs.

TRANSITION PLANNING

Transition planning for students involves efforts to ensure movement to an appropriate situation upon graduation.
