*       Purpose and Background

This assignment requires designing a Web Quest or an Internet lesson plan for students. The lesson can focus on using the Internet as a research tool or consulting the Internet to complete a step-by-step project.  Review models done by former EDUC 570 students before you attempt your own project.

Your written instructions to the students need to include links for them to access online materials. You are encouraged to have students or colleagues try out your plan. Your final project is composed of 2 components: a write up for teachers and the actual plan on the Internet for students to do.

*       Required Parts of Plan

Part 1: The Teacher Plan

*   Introduction: state the unit of study and the grade level and give some background about the curriculum fit or unit of study. Orient your readers on the Internet who read your plan as to its appropriateness within a curriculum or unit of study. The introduction should grab your audience’s attention.

*   Objectives: state these as measurable, student-behavioral outcomes (the objectives will need to align with your assessment of the student learning outcomes, so be sure to check your objectives while writing the assessment section of the plan)

*   Materials: list materials students will need to complete the lesson

*   Web Sites: give names and addresses

*   Lesson Sequence: list and explain activities, and include time allotments

*   Follow Up: list any necessary follow up, such as homework assignments

*   Assessment: list and explain how learning objectives will be assessed (see note above)

*   Handouts: include assignment sheets or other instructional handouts, preferably ones that you design, and provide hyperlinks to these materials

Part 2: The Student Plan

*   Provide the necessary overview students need to get started (this will be the bulk of the information students will need to succeed, so be as clear as possible in presenting this information)

*   Provide the links students need to do the plan

*   Include instructional handouts and directions to help student do the plan

*   Let students know how their work will be evaluated

Students viewing the plan on the Internet need to be able to find all the necessary parts by using your hyperlinks.

Grading Criteria

*        Inclusion of all "Required Parts of the Plan": 40 %

*        Clarity of the lesson sequence for teachers and students: 20 %

*        Effective integration of Internet resources to support student learning: 20 %

*        Projected overall ease with which the target population can navigate the plan on the Internet and successfully complete the plan. 20%
