Cheryl A. Barnard, Ph.D. Named to Catholic Charities Board of Trustees

 

Cheryl A. Barnard, Ph.DCheryl A. Barnard, Ph.D., has recently been named to the Catholic Charities Board of Trustees. Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Hartford is a non-profit agency serving people of all faiths in Hartford, Litchfield, and New Haven Counties since 1920. Motivated by Christ's social teachings and respect for the richness of diversity, Catholic Charities exists to promote the dignity, self-sufficiency and human potential of those in need. Currently the Vice President/Dean of Student Affairs at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, Dr. Cheryl Barnard has served as a senior administrator at SJC since 2007. She is responsible for providing strategic vision, leadership and development of an integrated learning and living environment at the College, overseeing the Offices of Residential Life, Campus Ministry, Career Development, Community Outreach & Partnerships, Diversity Initiatives, Student Activities, Counseling, Disability Services, and Health Services. Previously, she served as Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Quinnipiac University in New Haven, where she had worked in a variety of capacities since 1990.

Additionally, Dr. Barnard volunteers as the Connecticut State Chair for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

Dr. Barnard earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Connecticut in 1998. She holds a master’s degree in Higher Education from Boston College and a bachelor’s degree in Management from Bentley College (Waltham, MA). She resides in West Simsbury, CT with her husband and two children.
