Saint Joseph College presents Free Financial Literacy Seminar on March 28

The recent economic crisis has increased awareness of and interest in learning more about sound money management techniques leading to smart decisions on personal finance. Saint Joseph College is reaching out to students and the local community by offering a free and informative five-session series of seminar programs presented by experts in the field designed to empower participants with essential tools to create financial well-being and a strong, prosperous future. Our Financial Literacy Seminar Series will kick off this spring:

Wednesday, March 28 - TAX PLANNING FOR THE RICH AND FAMOUS : Curious about the tax plans of the ultrawealthy? Wondering how to reduce your own effective tax rate? Join us on Wednesday, March 28 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. in The Bruyette Athenaeum’s Hoffman Auditorium located on the College’s West Hartford campus at 1678 Asylum Avenue. This session will focus on how you (like the very wealthy) can structure your finances to reduce all types of taxes – income, estate, gift, and state taxes. Whether you are navigating through the complexities of estate tax laws or just want to brush up on the best strategies for managing your taxes, this enlightening and entertaining session will answer many of your pre-April 15 questions and offer timely financial insight as to how the rich, famous and YOU can manage your taxes. A reception will follow the presentation. Admission to the event is free of charge and open to the general public. This presentation has attracted standing room only audiences in New York City and throughout the northeast. Reservations are required to reserve your seat. Joseph P. Toce, Jr.Tax Planning for the Rich and Famous will feature Joseph Toce, managing director of the New York Office of WTAS and Michael Van DeLoo, director of WTAS’ Connecticut Office. WTAS LLC is one of the largest independent tax firms in the United States, providing a wide range of tax, valuation, financial advisory and related consulting services to individual and corporate clients across the country. Author of Tax Economics of Charitable Giving, Joseph Toce has more than 30 years of experience in advising private clients on a broad range of tax, financial and business matters. He is a frequent speaker on individual tax matters to groups such as the Connecticut Bar Association, the Connecticut Bankers Association, as well as CNBC, the Wall Street Journal and other media. He earned his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. Michael Van DeLoo has more than 15 years of experience in providing tax consulting and compliance services to high net worth individuals and families. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College.
