Saint Joseph College Appoints Shawn Harrington as Vice President for Finance and Administration

Shawn HarringtonSaint Joseph College has announced the appointment of Shawn M. Harrington as vice president for finance and administration. Harrington’s appointment is effective March 1, 2010.

“Shawn’s results-driven financial management experience in academia and business make him the perfect choice for Saint Joseph College,” said President Pamela Trotman Reid, Ph.D.  “We welcome Shawn during an exciting time of growth for the College, both at our West Hartford campus and in downtown Hartford.”

Harrington comes to Saint Joseph College from Landmark College in Putney, Vermont where he served as Vice President for Administration & Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. His responsibilities included fiscal planning, financial records and reporting, cash management, investment oversight, institutional debt management, financial analysis, and risk management.

While at Landmark College Harrington achieved three consecutive years of operating surplus, fully repaid monies borrowed from its endowment to fund capital expenditures in earlier periods and restructured outstanding debt to improve liquidity.

Prior to Landmark College, Harrington spent 22 years at Gerber Scientific, Inc. in South Windsor, CT, where he held positions of increasing responsibility culminating in the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Previously he was Senior Manager, Audit for KPMG in Hartford. 

Harrington received his B.A. in Business Administration from American International College in Springfield, MA and his M.S. in Management from the Hartford Graduate Center, and is a C.P.A. Harrington serves on the Board of Trustees at American International College. He and his wife Mary and daughter Katy live in Rocky Hill, CT.
