On behalf of the dedicated men and women of the St. John’s College Office of Public Safety it is my pleasure to welcome you to St. John’s College. The Public Safety Office is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment in which our faculty and staff can prepare our students for academic success now and the career challenges in the future. The SJC officers and staff serve the college community with courtesy, pride, dependability and sensitivity. We are committed to building collaborative partnerships for the betterment of our entire community. The safety and well being of our students, faculty, staff and visitors is our paramount priority.
The Office of Public Safety, located in Pinkney Hall, operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year round. There is always an officer on duty, who will respond to calls for assistance. The Public Safety phone number is 443-336-2348 or Ext. 2000 from an on-campus phone.
The Office of Public Safety can only be effective in maintaining safety and security on campus if it has the cooperation and assistance of all members of the campus community. It is in your interest to be aware of security problems and to aid us in crime prevention. By practicing basic safety and security precautions, each individual will help make St. John’s College a safer place to live and to learn. We encourage you to join us in our efforts to provide a safe and sound environment for all. It is therefore imperative to immediately report all criminal offenses to the St. John’s Office of Public Safety, the assistant dean, or the director of student services.
The Campus Crime Report describes the safety and security practices and procedures at St. John’s College and provides the crime statistics for the past three calendar years. This report also meets all compliance standards as established by the federal Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, including the amendments through 2008. This report is posted on the SJC web site and printed copies are available to all current students and employees.
In closing, I am optimistic that you will have a successful educational experience here at St. John’s College.
