Arts in the Region

Theater, Music, Art, Dance, History

The greater Hartford area boasts an impressive and eclectic artistic community. Located only three miles from downtown Hartford, the College provides easy access to several premier venues including: The Bushnell Memorial Theater, Meadows Music Theater, Hartford Stage Company, The Wadsworth Atheneum, Theater Works, and more.

Our rich cultural heritage is evident in several Connecticut jewels: The Mark Twain House & Museum, The Connecticut Historical Society, The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, and even closer to home, West Hartford's own Noah Webster House.

Arts in Crisis

The Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism organized and hosted Kennedy Center President Michael M. Kaiser's Arts in Crisis symposia at the Carol Autorino Center for the Arts on June 10, 2010. As part of his 50-state national tour, Mr. Kaiser offered tips and proven strategies that will allow non-profit groups to survive and even thrive in the current economy. Over 250 arts managers and board members from across Connecticut participated in the community conversations moderated by TV journalist Diane Smith.
