Diversity Initiatives
Mission
Saint Joseph College holds as one of its core values the concept of Multiculturalism/Diversity. The College is committed to fostering the growth of an inclusive community that welcomes differences among community members and benefits from them. This is achieved through a variety of programs, events and activities. Student Affairs oversees a group of Peer Mentors whose mission is to educate around issues of diversity. This group entitled T.E.A.M. (“Teaching Everyone About Multiculturalism”) is based in the Division of Student Affairs and hosts a variety of workshops throughout the academic year.
These programs as well as others offered by a variety of areas on campus serve as supports for traditionally under-represented students and help to create an atmosphere on campus where students of all racial and ethnic backgrounds feel welcomed and valued. All diversity initiatives on campus are undertaken with the belief that by learning to understand, respect, and appreciate differences, all members of the College are broadened as individuals, and strengthened as a community.
