ESI: Environmental Science Investigations

In 1994, 14 miles of the Upper Farmington River were added to the National Wild and Scenic Rivers system. We take advantage of this amazing ecosystem in our backyard to introduce students directly to investigations in the field of environmental science.

This course offers students an introduction to the study of the ecology and natural history of the Farmington River.

Students learn about area wildlife, natural habitats, fisheries, and the impact recreation has on a natural habitat.

Through these sessions, students piece together the complicated and critical relationships that comprise an ecosystem. They gain an understanding of ecology, microscopic organisms, wildlife and other natural wonders. Students visit the Farmington River to work directly on-site. Their study is also supplemented by lab work and presentations.
