Fine Arts

These sessions are for all artist, from the shy to the self-confident. We place particular focus on drawing, painting and mixed media collage.

Through drawing and painting, students work on proportion, gesture, perspective, color fields, and line quality. They experiment with charcoal, pencil, pastel, marker and paints.

In mixing media and collaging, students combine found objects, traditional art and craft media, text, graphics, and photography. Students focus on message, intent, material choice and composition.

There are opportunities for outdoor sketching, as well as visits to current exhibitions at local galleries and the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. Students work on a number of projects each week, and each session ends with an exhibit of student work.
