Unification Grant

Saint Joseph College

APPLICATION PROCESS

__________________________________________________

The Application Process involves four steps from initial consultation to final project evaluation.

STEP 1: INTENT TO APPLY
Interested faculty, including adjunct faculty, submitted an Intent to Apply. The Intent to Apply served as a placeholder, indicating interest in submission of a proposal. The Co-Directors helped faculty network to identify potential collaborators, if none were identified.

The Co-Directors held two proposal-writing workshops in Spring 02. These workshops will be held again in the fall for the Spring 03 proposals on Wednesday, September 25 and Thursday, September 26 from 9:30 - 11:00 AM. Those who have submitted an Intent to Apply for Fall 02 will be notified of materials to bring to the workshop.

Faculty will be assisted in
a) ways to align their proposal with grant requirements,
b) ways to define measurable outcomes and evaluation procedures, and
c) needed resources

Proposal Drafts will be submitted to the Co-Directors by October 18 for initial review regarding compliance with the grant technical requirements. The Co-directors will provide feedback as needed to finalize the proposal. Click here for the Cost Menu.

STEP 2: PROPOSALS PROCESS
Faculty will submit final proposals by November 15. The Co-Directors will forward applications to the Interdisciplinary Review Team. The IR Team will evaluate the application, offer recommendations, and make awards on December 13.

STEP 3: IMPLEMENTATION
Faculty will implement initiatives in the Fall of 2003 and Spring of 2004. The Co-Directors will interview faculty and report progress to the IR Team which is comprised of the same members who evaluated the original proposal. A final interview will take place upon completion of the project.

STEP 4: EVALUATION and RECOMMENDATIONS
Faculty will write a brief summary of the project including evaluations and recommendations. Comments of the IR Team will be added to this document. A final recommendation for institutionalization of promising unification practices will be made to relevant college administrators and governing bodies.
