Master of Arts in Liberal Arts Schedule

Take classes in the evenings, just in the summers, or online. The Graduate Institute schedule is flexible for all students, including those working full time.

Credit Hours and Schedule Options

Total number of classes needed to graduate = 12 classes (4 segments)

Total credit hours needed to graduate = 36 credit hours

Available in Annapolis and Santa Fe in person and online

In-Person Classes

The MALA requires four semesters of study on either campus in Annapolis and Santa Fe. Students can spend all four semesters on one campus or time on both campuses.

Low-Residency Classes

The online classes for the low-residency program will be offered at different times based on our campus time zones. The low residency program will also require you to visit campus for two long weekends.

Annapolis and Santa Fe Summer

May 30–August 5, 2022

10 weeks, 3 nights/week. Same starting and ending dates in Annapolis and Santa Fe.

Tutorial meets each night. Seminar and Preceptorial meet alternating weeks of  “Seminar, Preceptorial, Seminar” and “Preceptorial, Seminar, Preceptorial.”  This gives us space for 15 seminars, 15 preceptorials, and 30 tutorials.

In Annapolis, schedule is always: 

  • Tutorial, 5:30—6:45 p.m. ET
  • Seminar or Preceptorial, 7:30-9:30 p.m. ET/ 5:30–7:30 p.m. MT

In Santa Fe, so that we can share preceptorials, the class order is switched:

  • Seminars and Preceptorials, 7:30-9:30 p.m. ET/ 5:30–7:30 p.m. MT
  • Tutorials, 8:15–9:30 p.m. MT
