Participating in the Yellow Ribbon program is an honor for St. John’s. We value military service and provide Yellow Ribbon funding to every qualified applicant who is accepted. St. John’s will match VA funding to cover the cost of tuition and fees.
Begin your application for admission by using the Common Application or the St. John’s Online Application. The procedure for both is the same. Because we welcome all serious applicants, there is no application fee.
Begin your application for financial aid by reading about the Yellow Ribbon Program. In addition to your VA benefits, you may also apply for Federal Student Aid funds. To apply, complete the FAFSA online.
At St. John’s we are happy to answer any questions you have about the college, application, or financial aid. Don’t hesitate to contact the Admissions Office.
Zachary Bowman (A19) enlisted in the US Army at the age of 18 shortly after graduating Broadneck High School in 2010. He has deployed to Afghanistan once in 2011 as part of a Polish-led task force that operated in the country’s Regional Command- East. While there he served as an M224 gunner for 2-2 Infantry’s Bravo company and Focused Targeting Force. Upon returning from Afghanistan in January 2012 he served as an Indirect Fire Infantryman in 2-2 Infantry’s reconnaissance platoon.
Before leaving active duty in January 2014 he also served as a team leader in 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division’s personal security detachment and as a squad leader in the reconnaissance platoon. Prior to attending St. John’s College he studied Psychology and Kinesiology at Anne Arundel Community College. He chose St. John’s College after attending a Friday night lecture hosted by Dr. Leslie Kay and realizing that there should be more to college than just getting a degree; he wanted to also learn how to best be a member of a community. After graduating St. John’s College he plans on either returning to active duty or teaching and attending graduate school for Social Psychology.
Zachary invites prospective students to contact him with any questions they may have about life as a Johnnie. E-mail Zachary at firstname.lastname@example.org.
