Prospective Students

If you are a prospective student, welcome! While exploring our website, we hope you will find the provided resources and information about our health and wellness services helpful as you begin making plans to attend our program.

Please be aware that, prior to starting classes, all incoming undergraduate students must:

  • Submit the required medical forms, including immunization records, through the Student Health Portal; and
  • Review information about the student health insurance plan and either complete the enrollment paperwork or complete the insurance waiver. (PLEASE NOTE: Anyone who fails to submit the waiver by the posted deadline will be automatically enrolled in the student plan.)

Please also know that college is a big and sometimes anxiety-provoking step in one’s life. The SHWC staff are passionate about helping to ease this transition and ensure your medical and mental health needs are met throughout your college career.

Some things to remember during this milestone:

  • Upon arriving at St. John’s College, you will have a FRESH START. Decide…
    • Who do you want to be?
    • How do you want to interact with the world?
    • What are your personal values?
  • Always strive to reflect on and learn from your mistakes (you will make them, no matter how much of a perfectionist you are!).
  • Make sure to maintain or cultivate a positive work ethic. Practice effective time management, prioritizing tasks while finding your school-life balance.
  • Explore your world! Meet and spend time with others who are different from you, and be open-minded about trying new experiences. Get involved by attending a workshop, joining a club, and/or playing intramurals.
  • Manage the “ups and downs” of life by…
    • Regularly practicing self-care (e.g., being active, eating healthy, keeping hydrated, practicing good sleep hygiene, taking time for yourself—yes, breaks are not only okay but necessary!);
    • Using stress reduction techniques (e.g., meditation, taking deep breaths, journaling, listening to soothing music/sound);
    • Maintaining healthy relationships; and
    • Seeking support as needed.

We look forward to meeting you!
