COVID-19 Dashboard for Santa Fe

Weekly Update for the Santa Fe Campus

For the week of July 25, 2022

Level Green: As of February 1, 2022, St. John’s College, Santa Fe has returned to a green alert level with all in-person activities resuming.

Opening Considerations: All undergraduate classes have returned to fully in-person. All facilities and services are accessible for on-and-off campus students and community members who follow all required campus protocols. Please read through the green dashboard explanation below for additional operations details.

Current Trends: Over the past few weeks, the New Mexico Department of Health and COVID Act Now have changed the metrics that they foreground. Both have shifted from a focus on positivity rates to a focus on hospitalization and case counts, per 100K. As key sources for our own metrics, this has influenced how we source and foreground our own metrics.

The college encourages all eligible members of our community to receive boosters for COVID-19. Students can contact the Health Center for information on how to schedule a booster.

On January 24, 2022, the total positive residential student count was removed and this count is now reflected in the factors table below. In addition, the total residential student tests count—which stood at 2,399 on 1/24/2022—was also removed; this is due to the large number of at-home tests currently being completed, of which we are unable to track in whole.

What Our Color Levels Mean

Our overall campus alert level above is marked by a color; this ranges from blue, the lowest alert level, to red, the most restrictive alert level. Each level has different reopening and operational considerations and outcomes. See below for a summary of each color’s likely outcomes for operations once we are in session.

State and County regulations and requirements

STATE: New Mexico has ended the tiered red-to-turquoise reopening matrix, which allowed for limited economic reopening by county. On February 18, 2022 the Governor lifted the state-wide indoor mask mandate. The New Mexico Higher Education Department continues to encourage institutions with a mixed population of both people who are fully vaccinated and those who are not to continue the use of prevention strategies that will reduce spread.

Vaccine progress: The New Mexico Department of Health is currently reporting 91.3 percent of the state’s residents age 18+ having received their first shot and 78 percent having received both shots.

COUNTY: As of February 18, 2022 the statewide indoor mask mandate has been lifted.

Vaccine progress: The New Mexico Department of Health is currently reporting 87.8 percent of the county of Santa Fe ages 18+ having completed the vaccination series.

Data

We use data from a number of sources for our internal and external indicators, including official information from the New Mexico Department of Health, results from our testing provider and internal measurements.

Overall alert levels are determined by careful weighing of all internal and external inputs, the recent trends of key indicators and regional, statewide and national data.

Due to reporting changes mentioned in "Current Trends" above, as of April 25, 2022, SJC Santa Fe now obtains positivity metrics from Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center (full state metrics) and from the New Mexico Department of Health (7-day Santa Fe county metrics).
