St. John’s College, Santa Fe will hold its 55th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. on the Athletic Field (by the Student Activities Center). Join us in May to see our Class of 2022 and returning Class of 2020 undergraduate and graduate students receive their Bachelor of Arts in the Liberal Arts and Master of Arts.
Our Santa Fe speaker will be the newly inaugurated Annapolis President Nora Demleitner. President Demleitner is the 25th Annapolis president in the college’s 325-year history, the ninth since the inception of the current Program of Study in 1937, and our first female president. Her appointment began January 1, 2022, after she completed her final fall semester as the Roy L. Steinheimer Jr. Professor of Law at Washington and Lee University School of Law. President Demleitner is an expert in criminal justice issues and was drawn to the college’s rigorous practice of reasoned inquiry and dialogue as a means of getting at truth and understanding.

Commencement is at 10:30 a.m. MT on Saturday, May 21, 2022 and will be held on the Athletic Field on the Santa Fe campus.
The ceremony will last approximately an hour and 30 minutes.
Commencement exercises will be held outside on the Athletic Field. Because of the intensity of the sun, we suggest that you wear sunscreen and/or sun protection. Water will be provided. The ceremony is rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather, the ceremony will be moved indoors where restrictions to guests and seating may be necessary.
There will be a buffet luncheon following the ceremony. We encourage all graduates and their guests to stay for this celebratory event.
In the case of severe weather, the Commencement Ceremony will be moved from the Athletic Field to inside the SAC gym. All degree candidates and returning alumni will be notified via email by the Friday evening before the ceremony should such a decision be made. If the Severe Weather Plan is implemented, the number of guests of graduating students and alumni will be restricted in order to comply with indoor capacity needs. The event will be livestreamed and recorded for future viewing, so guests who cannot take part in the live event can access our virtual link.
A professional photographer will be at the ceremony to take portraits of graduating students as they receive their diplomas on the stage as well as prior to the ceremony.
All family, friends, faculty and graduates can use the InSight Foto photography website link below to access, view, order prints, and download high and low resolution digital files directly to their devices. The link will be accessible for one year. You may pre-register by entering your email address; once the pictures are ready to access after the event, an email notification will be sent to all pre-registered individuals.
