A beautiful summer weekend in Annapolis was the setting as alumni volunteers came together for the fifth annual Alumni Leadership Forum on June 6-8. This year’s conference featured a variety of sessions led by new and seasoned alumni, great participation by college staff, and lots of opportunities for networking, service and fun. Highlights included the first ever “Completely Engaged Alumni Heptathlon,” a swing dance in the Great Hall, and an “Evening of Conversation” at the Smithsonian.
During the course of the weekend, alumni made new connections, shared ideas, produced career roadmaps, posted “sALFies" to friends, and wrote thank-you notes to acknowledge Class of 2014 for its exceptional giving. The chance to meet fellow alumni volunteers and college staff members in person continues to expand our sense of community and culture of collaboration. There are also a variety of new volunteer opportunities available to all alumni. For example, for alumni who are interested in hosting an internship for a current student, the Career Services office can work with you and your company or organization to make the formal arrangements. Another new initiative, the “One Alum, One Referral” campaign, makes it easier for alumni to refer prospective students to the Admissions Office; volunteers can now submit referrals directly through the SJC Online Community at Alumni Volunteers. Alumni who want to get even more involved are encouraged to volunteer for working groups or board service.
A big thank you goes out to all of the alumni volunteers who contributed to the success of ALF 2014! Your continued participation and feedback is greatly appreciated. A summary of this year’s participant feedback can be viewed online here.
