WHEN: Wednesday, March 11, 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Great Hall, Peterson Student Center
Formed in 1969, the first year women were admitted to Yale University, the Yale Slavic Women’s Chorus is dedicated to musical excellence, passion, and the fellowship of Slavic folk music. Most of their music hails from the countries of Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Russia and Ukraine. The repertoire of lyrical songs borrowed from authentic Slavic choruses tell of love, work, war, country life, and sorrow. The Yale Slavic Women’s Chorus performances strive to maintain the original mode of the presentation, which often includes dissonant harmonies, unusual rhythms, and distinctive vocal qualities which make Slavic music unique and exciting for so many listeners.
