TITLE: “Kant’s Rational Being as Moral Being”

WHERE: Great Hall, Peterson Student Center, St. John’s College

WHEN: Friday, April 10, 8 p.m.

DETAILS: This lecture is free of charge, open to the public, and followed by a question and answer period.

This lecture will explore Kant’s moral problematic and focus on the tie between Reason and Freedom, especially in the form of self-determination. The lecture will also focus on the excessive character of duty’s demands as expressed in Kant’s “ought implies can.”

Jay Smith is a St. John’s College Tutor. He received his M.A. in Philosophy from Marquette University and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Fordham University.
