Meet the Authors

Do flowers really have sex?

How does the owner of a successful literary agency get entangled in a homicide case?

Why is the anniversary of the War of 1812 being celebrated in Baltimore in 2014?

You’ll find the answers to these and other provocative questions at the Meet the Authors fundraiser on November 9, 2014. Presented by Caritas Society of St. John’s College, the fundraiser will be held in Francis Scott Key Auditorium at 3 p.m. In addition to the author presentations, there will be a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception and book signing.

Headlining the event are:

Ruth Kassinger, author of A Garden of Marvels: How We Discovered that Flowers Have Sex, Leaves Eat Air and Other Secrets of Plants. An award-winning author of books for adult and young readers, Kassinger is interested in the intersection of gardening, history, and science.

Barbara Rogan, author of A Dangerous Fiction. Rogan is an alumna of St. John’s College, Santa Fe, with an impressive background in writing, editing, teaching, publishing, and blogging. Her experience in these fields sets the stage in this exciting thriller.

MTA_-_THE_PERILOUS_FIGHT.jpgSteve Vogel, author of Through the Perilous Fight; Six Weeks that Saved the Nation. As a veteran reporter and a military historian, Vogel brings considerable knowledge to the subject of the critical six weeks of 1814 and to the Battle of Baltimore as well as to Francis Scott Key’s role as he witnessed the battle.
