Doctor of Nursing Practice
The Doctor of Nursing Practice at Saint Joseph College will be offered to graduate students beginning in Spring 2013. Graduate students will have strong knowledge of nursing scholarship, clinical practice, health promotion, disease treatment, and the skills necessary to work in a changing and evolving health care environment. The essential concepts and scientific underpinnings of advanced nursing practice, health promotion and population health, organizational and systems leadership, inter-professional collaborative skills, clinical scholarship, evidenced based practice, cultural competence, and ethical sensitivity and responsibility are interwoven across the curriculum. These core concepts are designed to meet the requirements of the AACN Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice.
The Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice is Pamela Aselton, Ph.D., APRN-BC.
Graduate students who enter the Doctor of Nursing Practice must be Registered Nurses with a Master’s degree in Nursing. Graduate students complete 39 credits over a two-year period in conjunction with their plan of study created and approved by the Program Director.
This program is currently awaiting final approval from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
