Family Nurse Practitioner

The Masters Degree Program prepares the RN for advanced practice and board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. The Family Nurse Practitioner track is designed to be completed on a part-time basis with courses scheduled in the late afternoon and evening hours. Clinical learning experiences occur at a variety of health care agencies. The Master of Science degree prepares the Family Nurse Practitioner for leadership and change agent roles in health promotion and therapeutic clinical practice. Nurse Practitioners are prepared to deliver Primary Health Care to families across the life span. They are also prepared to administer, consult, educate and research as part of the advanced practice role in nursing. Students complete a thesis as a requirement of the program. Consult the Saint Joseph College catalog for specific information concerning admission, matriculation and graduation.

Applicants should have at least one year of clinical practice as a registered nurse before applying with a concentration for the Family Nurse Practitioner.

Due to the increased interest in the Family Nurse Practitioner concentration, applications for program are on hold until the Fall 2012-2013 semester.
