Dalia Giedrimiene, M.D., Ph.D.

Dalia Giedrimiene, M.D., Ph.D.Dr. Dalia Giedrimiene received both her M.D. and her Ph.D. from the Institute of Medicine, Kaunas, Lithuania. She also holds a Doctor of Sciences from the Council of Sciences of Lithuania and a Certificate in Public Health from the University of Connecticut Health Center.

Dr. Giedrimiene is an expert in the field of Cardiology and Physiology. She has extensive experience as an Intensive Cardiac Care Physician and co-developed an Arrhythmias Center for patients with cardiac arrhythmias and conduction abnormalities. She holds three medical patents, including one in the area of Diagnostic Methods for Interpretation of Disturbances in Cardiac Rhythm and Conduction, and she has published several groundbreaking medical articles in leading journals.

Her current research interests are in the identification of important environmental and psychosocial factors affecting college students’ health and in the improvement of the counseling and health education-based programs for students at women’s colleges. She collaborates with cardiologists from Hartford Hospital to evaluate the effectiveness of diuretics therapy and methods of management in patients with heart failure, especially with acute cardio renal syndrome, and to assess the effectiveness of cardiac resynchronization therapy in patients with advanced heart failure. Her research projects include evaluation of implantable defibrillator use for primary and secondary prevention, evaluation of appropriate and inappropriate shocks in patients with ICD’s, identification of predictors of sudden death in patients with ICD and syncope, and gender-based differences in diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Giedrimiene has more than 20 years of experiences teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, including online courses for medical students, medical residents, and college students in Biology, Nursing, Nutrition and other Programs. She has received awards for her teaching excellence, including the Saint Joseph College Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology. Her teaching areas include Physiology, Anatomy, Pathophysiology, Genetics, Neuroscience, Psychopharmacology, Endocrinology, Body Fluids and Electrolytes, Acid-Base Balance, Arrhythmias and Cardiovascular Physiology, Laboratory Tests Interpretation, Clinical Problems Solving, and others.

Dr. Giedrimiene is a member of the American Heart Association, the Heart Failure Society of America, the Heart Rhythm Society, the European Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, the Women’s Health Research Society, and the Organization For The Study Of Sex Differences.
