Meet Our Faculty and Staff

Doreen Soldato, Ph.D.

Doreen Soldato, Ph.D.Dr. Doreen Soldato received her B.S. in Animal Science and Technology from the University of Rhode Island and her Ph.D. in Pathobiology from Brown University.  While at Brown, Dr. Soldato’s research focused on death receptor-mediated apoptosis of the liver and spleen in a clinically relevant mouse model of polymicrobial sepsis.  In this model, Dr. Soldato found that she could deliver siRNA targeting upstream signaling components in the apoptotic pathway to septic animals and improve their survival. 

Dr. Soldato has published her work in leading journals including Blood, the American Journal of Pathology, and the Journal of Leukocyte Biology.  She has also presented her research at various national meetings including the Society of Leukocyte Biology, the Shock meeting, where she was the recipient of the 2004 New Investigator Award, and Experimental Biology, where she was the winner of the American Society for Investigative Pathology’s 2006 Pre-doctoral Merit Award.

Dr. Soldato’s teaching experience includes several aspects of General Pathology and Innate Immunity.  She has also taught courses in Microbiology, Cell Biology, and Anatomy & Physiology at both Dean College and Quinnipiac University prior to joining Saint Joseph College.

Dr. Soldato resides with her 2 year old son, a dog, and 2 cats.  She enjoys playing with her son, cooking, figure skating, and ballroom dancing.
